Indira, the Strength of Pain
Feature Film

Synopsis
The nightmare for Indira Villafañe, a humble seamstress, begins when her son Samuel is found dead. His tragedy is made even more harrowing when the authorities state that the young man was a guerrilla fighter killed in combat.
After the initial shock, Indira sets out to find out what happened to Samuel, who had travelled to work on a farm before his death. She discovers in the forensic report that the version given to her by the authorities does not correspond to the events that supposedly took place. While searching for clues, Indira finds Lalo, the man who promised Samuel the job, and discovers that her son was lied to. At the same time, rumours spread throughout the neighbourhood that other young people have disappeared under similar circumstances.
Indira only has Yésica, Samuel's pregnant girlfriend, to rely on. Her grandson becomes another motivation to prove Samuel's innocence. Indira follows the guidance of the local representative, the only official who seems to believe her, who urges her to continue with her quest. In her struggle, she will face the cruelty of the authorities, the bureaucracy of the state, the rejection of her neighbours who doubt Samuel's innocence, threats against her life, and economic hardship, which is exacerbated when she loses her job for failing to keep to her schedule while devoting time to her investigation.
Inside, she feels devastated, disappointed, and even guilty, since she encouraged Samuel to travel to get away from Yésica. At the same time, the news and the supposed progress of the investigation hurt her, but also filled her with more doubts, courage, and strength to get to the truth. She manages to prove that Samuel and other young people were extrajudicially executed as part of a macabre plan known as the “false positives.”
